Tonight, I found myself surfing the interwebs for new reads.
Like in the old days when I was new to the world of blogging.
My secret trick to finding great reads was to lurk around people's blog rolls, and found them I did! If I remember correctly, I found the likes of awesome gals like Lori, Zoey and Lady B through blog roll stalking back in the day.
But last night makes me think that many are not keen on the blog roll idea these days. Ten out of the sixteen blogs I checked out didn't have one!
Once upon a time, your blog roll was your way of giving a thumbs up to someone. The bloggy version of a high five, where you were happy to send abit of traffic their way. Sharing the love, so on and so forth.
Are blog rolls uncool now, an outdated feature? Or do we not include them because so many of us are charging for advertising and don't want to give the goods for free?
There's a small part of me that feels the extinction of the blog roll to be a sign that the camaraderie is slowly fading as more people stand to make moola off their work.
I'll spare you "Team spirit! Group hug" speel but seriously guys, it is still possible to share the love even when you're toppin' the charts!
So tell me, do you have a blog roll? Do you find them helpful? And most importantly, do you find new reads?
